Thoughts on Study Questions from Acts Ch 9 on 12/16
My Sunday school class/Life Group is studying the book of Acts. I posted these questions this Monday and encouraged you to jot your thoughts down.

Chapter 9:19-31
Where does he end up after this "close call"?
Chapter 9:19-31
Apprehensive.
Did not like it.
Fearful.
Saul almost immediately begins to do what?
Preach in the Synagogue.
What questions do the people have?
Who are you to be teaching us?
What’s going on?
I don’t trust him (not a question but relevant).
In v22 Saul is described as proving that Jesus was Messiah. Why did he not see this before?
His eyes weren’t open (his heart did not match his eyeballs)
Jesus spoke to him on the road to Damascus.
How do we know that the shoe is on the other foot now for Saul?
Hmmm. I have a line in the answer box but no words.
How does Saul avoid the Jews?
He has to sneak out of town by being lowered down outside the city wall.
We checked and city walls were around 39-feet high and 8-feet wide at the top. It must have been a big, strong basket!
Reaction to Saul in Jerusalem is different than it was in Damascus. Why do you think that was?
It wasn’t all that different until…
Who appears (for the second time) to help?
… Barnabas enters the picture.
What does Barnabas do to help the people overcome their fear?
He accompanies Saul to the Apostles.
Saul seems to infuriate all Jews equally. Who tries to kill him this time?
In Damascus it was the Grecian Jews.
In Jerusalem, it’s the Hellenistic Jews.
While both sound Greek, the Hellenistic Jews spoke Greek.
Where does he end up after this "close call"?
He’s taken to Caesarea and then goes “home” to Tarsus.
After Saul's extreme persecution, what does his conversion lead to?
Peace.
Compare the fear at the first of Chapter 9 to the fear at the end.
Saul is feared at the beginning-unhealthy fear.
God is feared at the end-healthy fear.

When Peter returns to Jerusalem, he is on the hot seat. Why?
