Miracle #9 – Jesus Walks on Water – Matthew 14:22-36
The study book calls v27, “the language of God.” Why?
“It is I” is literally “I AM.” List other places I AM is used as God’s name.
What made Peter think he could walk on water?
What’s the significance of the words Peter uses to ask permission?”
Why didn’t other disciples follow Peter’s example?
If one would have, who would have been?
Why him?
Would you have followed Peter out of the boat?
Why/Why not?
Peter walks on water. Peter sinks into the water. What changed for him? (Besides getting soaked.)
How can Peter’s call for help and its outcome encourage both Christians and non-Christians?
Jesus tells Peter he has little faith. Is that fair? Why or why not?
V33 sounds like the disciples finally understand who Jesus is. What evidence can you find that is true? That it’s false? (Hint: Matthew 16:16)
What do you know about how the term “edge of his cloak” should read?
