Timeless Truths: Wives, Don’t You Know? Questions 1-4

If you’re married or contemplating marriage, do you love each other enough to care about each other’s needs?
In spite of the title of this post, the message is targeted at husbands.
Men, does your wife know
1. You have the stability and direction of a spiritual leader?
Whoever wants to become great among you must first become a servant. [Mark 10:43]
The Needed Response: Forget about yourself.
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church, and gave Himself up for her to make her holy… [Ephesians 5:25]
Men must choose to serve out of love.
Men, does your wife know
2. Only she can meet vital needs in your life and work?
If a man has recently married, he most not be sent to war or have any other duty laid on him. For one year he is to be free to stay at home and bring happiness to the wife he has married. [Deuteronomy 24:5]
The Needed Response: Velvet and steel [tenderness and toughness].
This takes time and effort.
Men, does your wife know
3. You cherish her and delight in her as a person?
A generous man will prosper, he who refreshes other will himself be refreshed. [Proverbs 11:25]
Unmet expectations lead to frustrations.
The Needed Response: Words of affection.
Frustration leads to bitterness.
Men, does your wife know
4. You understand her by protecting her in areas of her limitations?
Be completely humble and gentle, bearing with one another in love. [Ephesians 4:2]
Unmet expectations lead to frustrations.
The Needed Response: Ears and elbows [listen and work].
Both partners are required to pay attention to this.
