Expressions of Faith - Better Suffering?
For it is better, if it is God’s will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil. For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit.
(1 Peter 3:17-18 NIV)
Better Suffering?
This verse is very similar to 2:19-21.
In that verse, Peter addresses slaves.
Here, all believers are included in the idea of suffering for good while living in God's will.
Believers are also included in the truth that when they do what is evil and suffer for that, they getting what we deserve.
Ever have a pity party because you did something you knew was wrong and suffered because of that action?
- Get over that.
- It's a consequence of life choice.
Don't get trapped in a pity party when you suffer for doing what is good.
Remember Peter’s caveat: For it is better, if it is God’s will, to suffer…
