Expressions of Faith: Love Deeply
Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.
(1 Peter 4:8 NIV)
Love Deeply
Two years ago last week, our son, Doug married Brienne.
The ceremony echoed the first part of this verse. The depth of their love was visible to all in attendance. It has increased in the two intervening years.
While I don’t know of any sin covered by the couple’s love, I’m certain that their love covers some actions, quirks if you will, of each partner.
Each pair of eyes fails to register those actions/quirks in the brain.
Love covering sin is what God does through Christ.
His covers the sin even after any image might have registered.
Deep love covers quirks, actions, and sin.
According to Peter, we should love as God loves.
High standard.
It’s achievable when we are filled with God’s love.
