Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

Hebrews 11 – Faith #1
The first verse of Hebrews 11 is one of the most often quoted verses in the Bible. Here’s how in reads in four other versions. Each provides a slightly different look at faith.
The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It's our handle on what we can't see. The Message
What is faith? It is the confident assurance that something we want is going to happen. It is the certainty that what we hope for is waiting for us, even though we cannot see it up ahead. The Living Bible

The author makes a bold statement about the value of faith in Verse 2
Verse 3 is an example of how God helps people without what we might consider the knowledge base required to understand the truth.
The idea of something invisible forming a visible universe seems like common sense in our modern world. Crime scene investigators do something akin to that in every episode of their TV shows.
Long before electron microscopes, DNA sequencing, and mass spectrometers, the writer of Hebrews describes as what is known as “The Big Bang Theory.”
