Thoughts on Hebrews Ch 11 Study Questions from 2/4
THOUGHTS ON HEBREWS STUDY QUESTIONS
My Sunday School Life Group is studying Hebrews. Every Monday, I post questions that were discussed the day before in Sunday School. I invite you to ponder/think about them and jot down your thoughts.
On Wednesdays, I post some of the ideas that came up in the Life Group's discussion for you to consider and compare with your thoughts.
These questions were discussed in my Life Group Monday. This post presents thoughts from the class discussion.
Chapter 11
Vv 17
How does the author define faith?
It's not conjoured up by humans.
God spoke it.
The Amplified Bible has "things not seen" as well.
We got on a tangent. The right column in the photo ended the trip inot the difference between how Christians and non-Christians view faith.
Rewrite that definition using terms you use in “normal” conversation.
SACV stands for Sprit Alive Class Version. We came up with three options. The * is not an original SACV, but we agreed it was a good one.
Feel free to share your rewrite as a comment. I'll post those I get next week.
Romans 8:24 was suggested as well. It's harkens back to the "believing is seeing" in the photo.
For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have?
Why were the ancients commended?
They believed without proof.
Not all did that. Some people centered around a cause, not God. That's still true today.
What’s the significance of v3?
Genesis 1:1
Everything is from God.
Evidence of this is found in the discoveries people have made about truths in Scripture that were not "discovered" by humans until thousands of years after the Bible was written. None of These Diseases by S. I. McMillen is an example. This book details the wisdom of food choice and preparation guidlines in Leviticus and elsewhere in the Bible.
I encourage you to complete Chart time #1 before next Wednesday. It's shown below as well as in Monday's post.
