Colossians 1:13
The Dominion of Darkness
In modern American society, this term brings to mind vampires, Darth Vader, and anything opposed to The Justice League.
- Those are fictional characters.
However, there is a real dominion of darkness.
- Satan, the leader of God’s fallen angels, is the ruler of this evil realm.
- It’s a terrible place.
- The Apostles John in Revelation and Paul in 2 Thessalonians offer these warnings.
But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.
Revelation 21:8
They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might
2 Thessalonians 1:9
- Jesus, the Son of God, paints an even more graphic picture in Matthew.
the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth
Matthew 13:50
The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. They will throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Matthew 13:41-42
Once in Satan’s dominion, you are in the real dominion of darkness forever.
Fortunately for you, Jesus is real, too.
- He’s waiting to wash away your sins with the blood from His sacrificial death on the cross.
The only way out of Satan’s dominion of darkness is a pure heart, God offers that to everyone through salvation from your sins.
- The dominion of darkness.
- Heaven.
- The choice is yours.
Now is the time to choose eternal life over eternal death and ask God to save you from your sins.
