#Bible #Lesson Timeless Truths. Audacious Faith

Jesus often talked and let hearers draw their own conclusions, and he asked many questions and let them figure out the answers. That's a great way to teach/learn something.

Some time later, Jesus went up to Jerusalem for one of the Jewish festivals. Now there is in Jerusalem near the Sheep Gate a pool, which in Aramaic is called Bethesda and which is surrounded by five covered colonnades. Here a great number of disabled people used to lie—the blind, the lame, the paralyzed. One who was there had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?”
John 5:1-6

"Do you want to get well?" is a question with many levels

  • self
  • family
  • community
  • church
Regardless of your level in the list above, your hurt is included. When Christ performed physical healing, there were many reasons, conditions, circumstances, and they took place in diverse places.

However, there are four conditions common to his healing events.

1. They were not accidents.

  • He's a God of details.
  • He knows the ins/outs of your life and church.
  • He is a creator who can handle anything in your life.

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. Ps. 139:13

2. There as not just a positive attitude--faith.

  • Faith helps you renew.
  • Lack of faith hinders the process.

Therefore I want you to know that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit. 1 Cor 12:3

3. Healing depends on the Healer.

  • The Holy Spirit must be present.
  • The Healer is close to the broken heart.

4. A healed heart is a joyful heart.
You can confront your past with God's forgiveness.
Satan wants you to dwell in the past.

Don't allow past mistakes to define who you are.
Satan brings up mistakes.
Forgiveness washes your soul.

Focus your identity on Jesus Christ.
Build on that!

A study of 16 of Jesus's healings found these in common

  1. The Saviour was always present, even if at a distance.
  2. There was unprecedented FAITH IN CHRIST shown by someone in the story.

If you are hurting, regardless of the cause of the pain, the level of your pain, or the circumstance in which you live with that pain,
Jesus, the Great Physician, want's to heal your heart.

  • Ask Him to take away your pain today.
  • Then, give it to Him!
