Be Considerate

Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.

(1 Peter 3:7 NIV)

Translations and mis-interpretations of this verse have been the cause of both good and bad treatment of women.

On the good side: consideration and respect by Christian husbands has helped women world-wide.

Bad: the word weaker has been used to subjugate women for 2000 years. 

The Amplified Bible provides more meaning. Note espcially the highlighted areas.

 In the same way, you husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way [with great gentleness and tact, and with an intelligent regard for the marriage relationship], as with someone physically weaker [literally the feminine form of a weaker vessel], since she is a woman. Show her honor and respect as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered or ineffective.

This is something all males need to hear before entering even a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship.
