#BibleStudy Expressions of Faith. Acts Ch 5 Keep Proper Priorities
Keep Proper Priorities
Things were going well.
- Attendance was increasing.
- Offerings were strong.
- Foodservice to all attendees was . . .
In spite of all the went on in Jerusalem following Pentecost, people—even Christian people—were people.
- They still are!
Whether the treatment of Grecian widows was total neglect or just discriminatory, Grecian Christians were upset.
- It’s clear that the apostles agreed there was a problem.
- More important than acknowledging the problem, they did not rush to BE the solution to that problem.
- The apostles kept their priorities straight.
- In a short time, seven men with ties to the Grecian community were chosen to deal with the issue.
- Their names are Greek.
It’s good to be reminded not to try and be the solution to every problem in your church community.
- You’re not free of all responsibility, either.
- Don’t neglect your ministry.
Information I found in my collection of sermon notes presents these three points for this passage of Scripture.
- Keep the main thing the main thing.
- Honestly address potential distractions.
- Share the burden of ministry.
Keep your priorities straight!
