#BibleLesson Timeless Truths. Good or Better? Romans 8:28

You often limit God by how you pray.

Remember this truth: God is bigger than satan!

God can restore a situation to BETTER than it was before whatever happened that led you to pray about it.

28  And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
Romans 8:28 (NASB)

You've heard this verse and maybe quoted it yourself, many times if you've been a Christian for a few years.

What if you read the highlighted part of that verse like this
...work together for better to those who love God...?

In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also. And you know the way where I am going.” Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, how do we know the way?” Jesus *said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me...
12 Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father. 13 Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it...
19 [c]After a little while the world will no longer see Me, but you will see Me; because I live, you will live also. 20 In that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. 21 He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him.” 22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, “Lord, what then has happened that You are going to disclose Yourself to us and not to the world?” 23 Jesus answered and said to him, If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him...
30 I will not speak much more with you, for the ruler of the world is coming, and he has nothing in Me; 31 but so that the world may know that I love the Father, [d]I do exactly as the Father commanded Me.
John 14:2-6, 13-14, 19-23, 30

Jesus is talking about going to the cross and being raised in this passage from John.

Satan thought he won when Jesus died on the cross,

  • but Jesus did BETTER!

Dying on the cross made our relationship with God BETTER than Adam and Eve's.

  • God always/only went to them in the evening.
  • But God is ALWAYS with us
  • through the Holy Spirit who came to Earth on the Pentecost following the resurrection.

Bottom line:
Jesus makes it possible to overcome sin through a relationship with HIM.

  • That's BETTER than any other way to live.
