#BiblleStudy. Miracle #11 – Lazarus – John 11:1-3. 17-27, 38-47. 2-27-22 - DISCUSSION

This post includes 2/20 and 2/27

Why did Jesus raise Lazarus from the dead?

  • Foreshadowing of His life.
  • He loved Lazarus.

How do people who don't believe in Christ and the resurrection react when someone they care for dies?

  • I don't know.
  • Reactions are all over the place.
  • No hope for eternal life.
  • No joy for where the person goes.
  • More than the loss of companionship
  • The ceremonies have vastly different reactions than at Christian celebrations of life.

How strongly do you believe verses 25 and 26?

  • We don't know what happens at the end of a non-believer's life.
  • Hope is legitimate.

How could you use this story to help a person who's facing death?

  • Provide hope: Death isn't the end, eternity with God awaits.
  • Some people don't want to hear that.

How do you respond to a distraught friend's “I'm having a hard time even believing in God."

What can you say or do when they ask...

Where has God been the last few months?

  • God allows us to make mistakes.
  • Jesus will always say, "Come to me."

If God loves me, how can He let me hurt like this?

  • Free will.
  • Time for growth.
  • Jesus didn't live an easy life.
  • We live in a fallen, sinful world.
  • Jesus went through all these things.

What are the seven signs of Jesus’ glory illustrated in this miracle (1) and the following passages in John (6)?

2:1-22 - 4:46-54 - 5:1-11 - 6:1-13 - 6:16-20 - 9:1-7

The bottom right words are a "footnote." 😏

What perfume?

  • Burial perfume. Most likely Spikenard.
  • The jar was classy and expensive.

When?

  • Six days before Passover.

Where?

  • Inside Martha/Mary's house.
