Expressions of Faith: Difficult Salvation?
And, “If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?”
(1 Peter 4:18 NIV)
Difficult Salvation?
This verse seems oddly placed.
Also, at first I didn't read the reference to the righteous and salvation as I saw it later.
Now I think Peter is referring to how righteous people don't see their need for salvation—unrighteous people need salvation!
When unrighteous people see the above, they think they're doing fine without God.
So what’s the solution?
Looking at verses 16-19 puts in into context. In fact v17 says,
commit themselves to their faithful Creator [and yourself to yours!] and continue to do good.
Solution: Obey God.
