Thoughts on Hebrews Study Questions Ch 11 from 3/11

THOUGHTS ON HEBREWS STUDY QUESTIONS

My Sunday School Life Group is studying Hebrews. Every Monday, I post questions that were discussed the day before in Sunday School. I invite you to ponder/think about them and jot down your thoughts.

On Wednesdays, I post some of the ideas that came up in the Life Group's discussion for you to consider and compare with your thoughts.

These questions were discussed in my Life Group Sunday. This post presents thoughts from the class discussion.

Chapter 11
Vv 20-28

We started with a discussion of the significance of Jacob standing while he blessed Joseph's sons.
21 By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of Joseph’s sons, and worshiped as he leaned on the top of his staff. (Hebrews 11:21)
While there were no conclusions reached, we considered the possibility of it relating to the promise.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Vv23-28. Moses’ parents get two commendations. What are they and what does this say about them?
We could not agree on just two commendations.

How did Moses “choose to be mistreated?”
He refused to be called Pharaoh’s son.
He did hard labor when needed.

Vv25-26 are very generous to Moses. How? Why?
He turned his back on Egypt and its wealth.
He looked to God’s promise.

Comment on Moses’ faith in vv27-28.
Stong.
Unwavering.
