Expressions of Faith. Hebrews Ch 13. Entertaining Angels

Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it. Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.
 Hebrews 13:1-3
Entertaining Angels

To many of us in “civilized” societies, signs and wonders are obsolete.

Data-driven change, focus-group design, and physical proof are the norm.

Hospitality suffers in this environment.

Genesis 18 relates a story of hospitality that involves angels who were not seen as angels at that time. Abraham offers his hospitality to three strangers. While there is no definitive identification provide for the trio, chapter 19 implies that two of them were angels.

Abraham offered hospitality because it was the kind thing to do.

Hospitality and kindness are closely related.

A synonym search for hospitality generated this list.

Oddly, a similar search for kindness failed to include hospitality.

I’m not sure what lesson the mismatched synonym lists teaches.
I am sure what Hebrews 13:2 teaches.

Christ wants his followers to be kind and hospitable to everyone.
