Thoughts on Study Questions from Acts Chapter 1. 6/3

My Sunday school class/Life Group is studying the book of Acts. Monday, I posted the questions we discussed the day before. Today, I’m posting some of the comments from the class discussion.

If you’d like a PDF file of the questions, email me at crd.author@gmail.com

General Background

Look at these verses: What "section" of the book does each begin?
8:1 - Saul Persecutes the Church // The Church Is Scattered
9:1 - The Damascus Road // Saul is Converted
         Chapters 1-12 are Peter's ministry.
         Chapters 13-28 are Paul's ministry.
10:1 - Cornelius Calls for Peter
12:25 - Barnabas and Saul sent out.
13:2 - Saul's First Missionary Journey. The 2nd journey starts
at 15:36. The 3rd journey starts at 18:22 or 23.
Paul's journey to Rome starts at 27:1 or 6.
13:9 - Saul's name is changed to Paul. Saul means "ask for."
Paul means "small." (more on this later)
25:12 - Paul Appeals to Caesar

A Basic Outline
I.  Beginning the church in Jerusalem for the Jews
II. Moving the church to Judea and Antioch
III. On to Samaria for Outcasts
IV. To Everywhere else for Gentiles -
There are MILLIONS of Christians in India known as
      "Saint Thomas Christians."
One explanation is that this is where the Disciple Thomas
      scattered after Chapter 8:1.

James and Paul (According to 1 Corinthians 15:3-8
For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.
We got this far this week.

This Friday, my Expression of Faith is Acts Ch 1. Do-over.
