#BibleStudy Timeless Truths. The Miracle Tree – Fruit of the Spirit. #8 Gentleness

19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Galatians 5:19-23

8. Gentleness

36 When one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner with him, he went to the Pharisee’s house and reclined at the table. 37 A woman in that town who lived a sinful life learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house, so she came there with an alabaster jar of perfume. 38 As she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them
50 Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.
Luke 7:36-38, 50
43 And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years, but no one could heal her. 44 She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped.
45 “Who touched me?” Jesus asked.
When they all denied it, Peter said, “Master, the people are crowding and pressing against you.”
46 But Jesus said, “Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me.”
47 Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed. 48 Then he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.
Luke 8:43-47

3 Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture…11 But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy peace and prosperity.

Psalm 37: 3, 11

Gentleness can be defined as being mild-mannered or mild-tempered; a mother's love; meekness.

Luke describes two women that represent gentleness.

Luke 7:36+ - Sinful Woman
Luke 8:40+ - Bleeding Woman

GENTLENESS BRINGS (7:38 & 8:44)
1. A Sense of Touch
Touch can be a calming influence.
Touch is critical to normal human development.

2. A Sense of Change
In Chapter 7, the woman is forgiven/receives spiritual life.
In Chapter 8, the woman gets a new physical life.

3. A Sense of Peace
The last statement by Jesus to both women is, "Go in peace."
As you are changed by Christ, you are not left alone.
Peace is what God wants for you!

Psalm 37

David says to "trust in the Lord" for "the meek will inherit the land."
Meekness is strength under control.
Meekness is the opposite of pride. Consider it like taming the will of a wild animal.

Inherit is not just to receive, but also to pass it on.
You need to pass on the
TOUCH
CHANGE
PEACE
of GENTLENESS from God to your family.

We all need to do that!
