#Bible Timeless Truths. Intimacy with God: Spirit-Why a life in the Spirit is important

You can live your life in the Power of the Holy Spirit!

John 14. THE HOLY SPIRIT IS YOUR COUNSELOR.
Jesus did not leave believers alone after the ascension.
The Holy Spirit will

  1. Remind you of and teach you about what Jesus said.
  2. Testify about His presence both within and without of your heart and mind.
  3. Convict you of the need to change, do, or not do behaviors.

Galatians 5. THE HOLY SPIRIT IS YOUR CHARACTER SHAPER.

  1. Live in the Spirit.
  2. Don't live gratifying the desires of the sinful nature.
  3. Produce the Fruit of the Spirit through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Luke 24. THE HOLY SPIRIT IS YOUR COMPULSION.

  • The Spirit is nudging you/pushing you.
  • Luke's version of the Great Commission is found in Acts 1:7-8.

He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

  • It reminds the disciples (and you!) of the job of the Holy Spirit.
  • You have the power to witness as commanded through the Holy Spirit.

Acts 15:8-9. THE HOLY SPIRIT IS YOUR CLEANSER.
  • Disciples realized that the Gospel message is for everyone because the Holy Spirit came to Gentiles by faith.
  • God's plan includes removing 1) sin AND 2) the desire to sin.
Romans 8. THE HOLY SPIRIT IS YOUR CONFIRMATION.
  • The Holy Spirit testifies/confirms that you are God's child by witnessing to your spirit.
Romans 8:26-27. THE HOLY SPIRIT IS YOUR COMMUNICATOR.
  • The Holy Spirit helps you in your weakness and intercedes with God when you don't know what to do or say.
The Holy Spirit
  • is for everybody
  • brings you to a place where you search for and accept and grow in God
  • fills your heart/infills you
You can know the Holy Spirit is in you by
  • Conformation by the Spirit - God’s Spirit touches our spirits and confirms who we really are. We know who he is, and we know who we are: Father and children. Romans 8:16 (The Message)
  • Confident boldness in your life regarding the things of God.

BOLDNESS is the key evidence/sign of the presence of the Holy Spirit in your life.
