#BibleLesson Timeless Truths. Living Beyond Your Expectations

Proverbs 30:24-28 New International Version (NIV)

24 “Four things on earth are small,
    yet they are extremely wise:
25 Ants are creatures of little strength,
    yet they store up their food in the summer;
26 hyraxes are creatures of little power,
    yet they make their home in the crags;
27 locusts have no king,
    yet they advance together in ranks;
28 a lizard can be caught with the hand,
    yet it is found in kings’ palaces.
INTRODUCTION
We all have limitations in some shape or form, but you don't have to be defined by them, You can learn how to live beyond them, to experience fulfillment and victory despite the limitations that seem to stand in your way.

  • You often focus more on limitations than potential.

THREE STEPS INVOLVED IN LIVING BEYOND YOUR LIMITATIONS.

  • You don't have to be limited by your limitations.
  • And, it's not just ignoring them or pretending they don't exist.

1. Acknowledge That Your Limitations Exist...
But with an *Asterisk.

  • An asterisk signals a place to get more detail.
  • Limitations are not the complete definition of who you are.
  • They shouldn't be what holds you back.
  • You need to admit your limitations.
  • "Nothing limits more than not knowing one's own limitations." - Tom Hayes
  • "Don't let what you can't do prevent you from doing what you can do." John Wooden

2. Identify Your Strengths

  • It's easy not to realize your strengths.
  • Point out things that others do well and help others identify their strengths.
  • When you find a strength, turn it over to God.
  • You are unique and can be used by God in a unique way. That's your Unique Selling Point.
  • Consider the Rudolph Principle - a specific strength for a specific situation.
  • The Hyrax's clamp paws act as suction devices for holding onto rocks, especially when fleeing from a predator!

For this reason, I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God (2 Timothy 1:6a)

3. Decide to Go Where Your Gifts Can Take You

  • Get as much as you can out of what you have.
  • Intensify your efforts.

As for other matters, brothers and sisters, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more.  (1 Thessalonians 4:1)

  • Go a week without saying anything negative about a church member.
  • Build others up.

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. (1 Thessalonians 5:11)
  • Do what you can as well as you can. When you get that done, God will give you something else.
  • Play by your strengths and go where God takes you with them.
He replied, “[I speak in parables] Because the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to [non-disciples]. 12 Whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them. (Matthew 13:11-12)

What your focus is is what will multiply.
  • The only limits you can put on your life are the limits you accept.
  • Put an *ASTERISK* on your limits and turn them over to God.
CONCLUSION
You never have to answer for what you do not have or did not receive.
You only answer for what you do with what you have.
