Miracle #5 – Feeding 5000 People – Mark 6:30-44
1. How do you think the disciple’s attitudes changed as they collected the left-overs?
- Amazed
- From doubt to amazement
- How to deal with the leftovers
- We also talked about the word used for how those fed by Jesus felt after eating. The two most common terms in the Gospels are: Satisfied and Filled. We thought satisfied, not only full but full of good stuff) was the best.
2. How does that apply to issues in your life?
- Doubt and panic are of little/no value.
- Through God, you can do anything.
- When we can’t see one, God can make a way.
What’s the significance of the twelve baskets?
- 12 disciples 12 tripes of Israel.
- Twelve is an important number in the Bible, including Revelations.
- Jesus was reforming a new Israel.
Where’d they come from?
- Jews carried them routinely on trips.
- There were like backpacks.
BONUS THOUGHT:
“Who was this miracle for?” was also asked by the class. The general discussion suggested the disciples were the target more than those who were fed.
