#BibleStudy Expressions of Faith: Hebrews Ch 2. Slaves to Fear

Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil—and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. For surely it is not angels he helps, but Abraham’s descendants. Scripture here.
 Hebrew 2:14-16

Verse 14 and verse 16 bookend this thought
  • Christ became human to help humanity, and He is present today in the hearts and lives of Christians through the work of  The Holy Spirit.
Fear is a powerful motivator.

  • That's been made crystal clear during the sequestering over the last three months due to COVID-19.

Like all motivators, fear only motivates when conditions are right.

  • I know good, Christian people who have told my pastor that they won't be back at church during a service for at least one year.

My intent is not to belittle anyone's fear of the current pandemic.

  • I hope this blog provides hope where fear reigns.

Christ died so His death and resurrection would
       1.   Defeat “the power of death” that is Satan.
       2.   Free those who were/are slaves to their fear of death.

Through Christ’s resources, God completely removes fear’s motivation in those who believe.

If you feel like a slave to fear, ask God to help you overcome fear's motivation so you can be confident in Him.
