Thoughts on Hebrews Ch 10 Questions 1/21

THOUGHTS ON HEBREWS STUDY QUESTIONS

My Sunday School Life Group is studying Hebrews. Every Monday, I post questions that were discussed the day before in Sunday School. I invite you to ponder/think about them and jot down your thoughts.

On Wednesdays, I post some of the ideas that came up in the Life Group's discussion for you to consider and compare with your thoughts.

These questions were discussed in my Life Group Monday. This post presents thoughts from the class discussion.

Chapter 10
Vv 19-39

How do we “draw near to God?” Why do we hold on to hope?
Sincere heart. True heart.
With a heart clean from sprinkling.
Full of faith. Fully trusting.
**We didn't really address the second question**

Vv24-25 are closely related. What’s their point? Why is that a critical point?

Annotations.
"The Day" is Christ's second coming.
Christians deteriorate when not with other Christians--part of a group--over time by their own choice.
The book "We Really Do Need Each Other: A call to community in the church" by Reuben Welch was highly recommended. The book was written by the former chaplain of Point Loma Nazarene University, among his accolades.

What is the ONLY outcome of deliberate sin?
Raging fire.
Rejection.
Lose salvation.
God allows us to choose or reject His offer of salvation at any time.
Discussion on why God allows this brought this was the closing thought that stuck...
"A god comprehended isn't a god at all."

Vv28-31 is graphic in its descriptions. What’s your reaction?
We did not focus on the unpardonable sin
And so I tell you, every kind of sin and slander can be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.
Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come. Matthew 12:31-32
The red arrow points out what God brings to the mind of a sinner.
