#Bible #Lesson Timeless Truths 5 Characteristics of Mary the Mother of Jesus
Most of you know the basic story of Mary, but what should you learn from her LIFE?
The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.” - Luke 1:28
1. Mary was a woman of God.
- This starts before you have children. You need to follow God from a young age.
- Mary was ready to serve.
- Mary "just kept on" throughout her life. She endured.
When the time came for the purification rites required by the Law of Moses, Joseph and Mary took him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord ... Every year Jesus’ parents went to Jerusalem for the Festival of the Passover. - Luke 2:22, 41
2. Mary directed her family to God.
- Mary and Joseph were both in tune with God.
- Families with commitments to service are blessed.
On the third day, a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, - John 2:1
3. Mary nudged her children forward to do their best.
- She believed God had good things in store for them.
Now Jesus’ mother and brothers came to see him, but they were not able to get near him because of the crowd. Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you.”
He replied, “My mother and brothers are those who hear God’s word and put it into practice.” Luke 8:19-21
4. Mary learned to let go.- Mary gave Jesus the freedom to follow His calling.
Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. - John 19:23
5. Mary showed up in hard times.
- Godly parents are there because they are concerned and loving
- With or without words, just showing up is sometimes the best thing you can do for your children and friends.
- Godly parents run IN when others are running away.
