Expressions of Faith. Hebrews Ch 6. Tasting God
It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age and who have fallen away, to be brought back to repentance. To their loss, they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace.
Hebrews 6:4,5,6
Tasting God
Verses 4-5 list four experiences repentance initiates.
It’s quite a list.
Enlightened. Made aware of our sin and God’s mercy and grace.
Tasted. Refers to heaven. I doubt we could take more than a taste while here on Earth.
Shared. Invited by God.
Tested. Enough to appreciate Scripture and God’s power.
Why would anyone with these experiences choose to fall away from God?
