#BibleStudy Expressions of Faith. Hearing. Colossians 1:6
In the same way, the gospel is bearing fruit and growing throughout the whole world—just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and truly understood God’s grace.
Colossians 1:6
Paul reminds the Colossians that the same Gospel they heard and believed is bearing fruit around the world.
- Fruit and understanding come after hearing and believing.
If you think about that sequence, it makes sense.
- How can you understanding something you’ve never even heard of?
- How long, if ever, can you be productive, bear fruit, if you don’t believe in what you’re doing?
Today, there are groups of Christ’s disciples taking the Gospel to diverse places around the world.
Their purpose is to ensure more people hear so they can believe.
The Jesus Film Ministry is an example of this work.
- As of January 2018, nearly 8 billion people have seen/heard the Gospel via this ministry.
- Over 530 million people accepted Christ during and after watching the film since 1979.
The Mersey are indigenous people in Ethiopia.
Before the disciples showed the Jesus Film to the tribe, they showed a twenty-minute film of highlights of the Old Testament.
After that preview film, the chief would not watch the Jesus Film.
His reason?
He heard about the God of the Universe and miracles associated with Him.
That’s all it took.
He, and many of his tribe, believed.
Ask God to bless the feet of those who
bring the good news and their ministry
