Until we finish, my Sunday school class is studying Miracles of Jesus. The comments below are from our discussion this week.

Based on Signs and Wonders: Thirteen Miracles from the Life of Christ

Miracle #5 – Feeding 5000 People – Mark 6:30-44
Mark is divided into sections. Describe each of the first three:
1:14-4:34;
Jesus called disciples.
Preparation
Focus: preach, teach, heal
2. 4:35-6:29;
3. 6:30-8:30
- The disciples report
- Belief in Jesus
- Who Jesus is
- Saw other miracles
- Doctrinally correct. Important because many were fishermen.
Why would Mark use “apostle” here?
- Apostles are sent with authority
- Disciples are students/learners
BONUS THOUGHT:
Through all their time with Jesus, the disciples were learning to rely on God. In fact, “Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you.” Luke 6:30-31
