Until we finish, my Sunday school class is studying Miracles of Jesus. This week is the last week discussed miracles throughout the Bible.
The questions below are what we discussed this week.
I'll post highlights from our discussion on Wednesday.
Miracle #8 – A Sick Woman Touches Jesus – Mark 5:24-34
Overall impression
- The woman was desperate.
- She came to Jesus because she believed He had power.
- This is a personal event and required FAITH.
- She felt Jesus was her last option.
What are some of the societal stigmas this woman faced?
- She was unclean all the time. Leviticus 15:25-30
How is “issue of blood” translated outside the KJK?
- Hemorrhage.
- Constant bleeding.
What was this woman’s daily life like?
- Highly restricted.
- Full of rejection.
- Loneliness – She couldn’t touch anyone or be touched by anyone.
- How did she sustain herself?
BONUS THOUGHTS THIS WEEK
- Jesus’s term for healing is Sozo and refers to BOTH physical healing and restoring a relationship with God.
- Jews knew that she touched a specific tassel on Jesus’s Prayer Shawl, the tassel representing God Himself.
- That tassel was blue thread and had to be the one the woman would reach for.
- The blue die probably came from snails.
