#BibleStudy Comments on Questions from Acts Ch25 on 8-25

My Sunday school class/Life Group is studying the book of Acts. I posted these questions this Monday and encouraged you to jot your thoughts down.

This is Wednesday. This post consists of some comments from the class discussion.

If you’d like a PDF file of the questions, email me at crd.author@gmail.com.

There is a timeline of Paul's life at the end of the post.

Ch 25

(Actually 24:27-25:12)
Why does Felix keep Paul in jail?
  • To please the Jews.
  • Maybe he's still hoping for a bribe from Paul.
Festus arrives. Almost immediately he does what?
  • Goes to Jerusalem.
What evidence do we have that the Jews have long memories?
  • It's been two years since some Jews took the oath to kill Paul.
  • Once again it "Paul vs. Sanhedrin."
What does Festus offer the Jews?
  • A new trial.
After more false charges, Paul makes a very short defense. What is it?
  • He appeals to Caesar.
Festus’s final word is...?
After Festus had conferred with his council, he declared: “You have appealed to Caesar. To Caesar you will go!” (v12)

Vv 13-27

We now meet Agrippa. Who is he?
  • The newest King of the region.
What’s his “history”?
  • He's the fifth Herod and a brother of both Bernice and Drusilla.
How accurate is Festus’s account of what has happened to Paul?
  • It's pretty much spot on.
Agrippa makes an interesting request. What do you think his motive
is?
  • He might want to hear Paul's message, but more likely, he's hoping for a bribe.

We got this far this week.

Here's a link to a great Timeline of the Apostle Paul. I recommend bookmarking it.
