Expressions of Faith. Hebrews Ch 4. Swordplay

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

 Hebrews 4:12-13

Swordplay

Verse 12 makes it clear that Scripture is powerful. 

Verse 13 expands the thought.

The author describes God’s Word as

     1.   a living entity (alive/active)

     2.   impacting all aspects of life (soul/joints/marrow)

     3.   able to see the deepest areas of our lives (thoughts/attitudes)

These traits of this sword allow us to see inside our lives as we read the Bible.

The Word of God uncovers everything about each of US and about all creation.
