#BibleLesson Timeless Truths. The Stop Sign: Mighty God. 2nd Sunday of Advent
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6
God’s power through Jesus was never showy!
He will be called . . .
WONDERFUL COUNSELOR.
He takes care of the direction of life.
MIGHTY GOD.
He takes care of the demands of life.
His power … Our Possibilities
We can be saved completely!
. . . but because Jesus lives forever . . . He is able to save completely those who come to God through Him . . . Hebrews 7:24-25
We can be supported constantly!
Without the support of Christ, we have no hope of standing blameless.
Now to Him [Jesus] who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy . . .
Jude 23 (NAS version)
We can be secured confidently!
I know whom I have believed and am convinced that He is able to guard with I have entrusted to Him for that day. 2 Timothy 1:12
We can be strengthened consistently!
I pray that out of His glorious riches He [Jesus] may strengthen you with power . . . Ephesians 3:16
We can be stretched continually!
Now to Him [Jesus] who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work in us, to Him be glory . . .
Ephesians 3:20-21a
NOTHING BUT A MIGHTY GOD CAN DO ALL THIS.
NO GOD BUT A MIGHTY GOD WOULD DO ALL THIS.
DON’T MAKE A “CALIFORNIA ROLLING STOP” AT THE STOP STOP SIGN OUR MIGHTY GOD HAS IN PLACE.
WHILE YOU’RE STOPPED COMPLETELY AT THIS STOP SIGN, FOCUS ON THE MIGHTY GOD.
KEEP THAT FOCUS THROUGH ALL THAT YOU DO THIS ADVENT SEASON!
