For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6
He Will Be Called…
Wonderful Counselor. He takes care of the DIRECTION of life.
Mighty God. He takes care of the DEMANDS of life.
Everlasting Father. He takes care of the DIMENSIONS of life.
What Kind Of Father Is He?
He is the father of EVERLASTING LIFE.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life,
John 1:1-4a
We come to earth to live.
Jesus came to earth to die. Isaiah 53:12 says it best
Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because he poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For he bore the sin of many and made intercession for the transgressors.
Jesus Offers A Life Of…
QUALITY. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. John 10:10
QUANTITY. He [God] has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. Ecclesiastes 3:11
Jesus gives a full life.
We are created with eternity in our hearts.
Eternal life with God begins the minute we accept Jesus as Savior.
He Is The Father Of EVERLASTING LIGHT.
The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned. Isaiah 9:2
The light mentioned in the verse above is spiritual darkness.
Darkness can never overcome light.
and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it… The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.
John 1:4b-5, 9-10
When Christ came, there was no LIGHT.
Jews in Jesus' time did not believe in life after death.
When Christ left, there was no DARKNESS.
We need to walk in the light that we have.
He Is The Father Of EVERLASTING LOVE.
The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness. Jeremiah 31:3
God’s love is unshaken.
Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you. Isaiah 54:10
Jesus made God’s love visible.
No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known. John 1:8
Celebrate the birth of the incarnation of EVERLASTING LIFE, EVERLASTING LIGHT, and EVERLASTING LOVE this Advent season by asking Jesus into your heart!
