For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:6

He Will Be Called…

Wonderful Counselor. Yield Sign. He takes care of the DIRECTION of life.

Mighty God. Stop Sign. He takes care of the DEMANDS of life.

Everlasting Father. Construction Sign. He takes care of the IMENSIONS of life.

Prince of Peace. Exit Sign. He takes care of the DISTURBANCES of life.

Christmas Is A Time Of…

Promises!

Micah 5:5a - And He will be our peace…

Luke 2:14 - “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom His favor rests.”

John 14:27a - If you really know me, you will know my Father as well.

Lesson. His Peace was PREDICTED and RESTRICTED. The Peace of Christ is reality ONLY to those who reach out to Him.

Isaiah 53:5 - But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.

Colossians 1:20 - and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

Ephesians 2:14 - For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility,

Lesson. Our Peace was PAID for with His PUNISHMENT. The Peace of Christ is reality ONLY to those who reach out to Him.

A. Matthew 10:34 - “Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.

• Jesus did not come to bring external peace.
• Jesus coming brings conflict.
• We must believe Isaiah 9:6. That might not sit well with all our family and friends.

B. Matthew 8:20 - Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”

Jesus did not come to make a place for Himself in this world.

C. Matthew 26:15 – [Judas asked] “What are you willing to give me if I deliver him over to you?” So they counted out for him thirty pieces of silver.

Lesson. His Peace is INTERNAL and ETERNAL.

Possibilities!

Isaiah 26:3 - You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.

Romans 8:6 - The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.

Philippians 4:7 - And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Lesson. His Peace PROTECTS and PROVIDES.

CHRISTMAS is a time when impossibilities become possible through our faith!
