Timeless Truths. Only One Way? Got Questions Series Part 2

He made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the surface of the earth, having determined appointed seasons, and the boundaries of their dwellings, 27 that they should seek the Lord, if perhaps they might reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. 28 ‘For in him we live, move, and have our being.’
Acts 17:26-28a (World English Bible)

Understanding that there is only one way is the key lesson in life.

Definitions
MODERNISM: Only science can explain reality.
Anything supernatural is rejected.
This is pretty much anti-Christian.

POST-MODERNISM: No such thing as absolute, objective, and universal truth.
Reality is up to the individual.
Another--and different--conflict with Christianity

THE WAY IS...

1. Clear and Immediate.
Definition
PLURALISM: All roads lead to God.
This is very much part of Post-Modernism.

Jesus: "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
John 14:6
This statement separates all other religions from Christianity.

DO vs. DONE: In DO religions, followers must DO something to earn favor.
Christianity is the DONE religion--we can't do enough. Jesus did it!

"Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life for God's wrath remains upon him."
John 3:36

2. Narrow and Definitive.

Jesus: "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it."
Matthew 7:13-14
This explains why pluralism is so popular.

Definition
TOLERANCE: "What I believe is valid for me; whatever you believe is equally valid for you. And thus we can affirm each other's religions, even if our beliefs flatly contradict one another."

Christians are not narrow-minded; they believe in absolute truth.

3. Inclusive and Exclusive.
All are invited but you must follow the path.

Jesus: "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and Only Son. Whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.
John 3:16-17

The Bible invites us into a relationship, not a religion.

"...God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth... For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all men..."
1 Timothy 2:4-5

Bottom Line
Is it not possible to be sincere and wrong?

APPLICATION FOR THE SKEPTIC:
Investigate
Study the evidence
God always reveals Himself to seekers.

"You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."
Jeremiah 29:13

APPLICATION FOR THE BELIEVER:
Extend grace
 Stand for truth

"See how great a love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God! For this cause, the world doesn’t know us, because it didn’t know him... For this is the message which you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another...
1 John 3:1, 11
